What is propagation? Print

Propagation is the time it takes for each of the internet backbones to be updated with your new DNS information. This often takes about 24 hours, but can take even longer, sometimes up to 5 days. When you register a new domain, or change the server with it (by changing name servers), you will have to wait for name servers to propagate. During the propagation period, your website may sometime resolve to old and new server randomly; or to old server completely.

If propagation takes you more than 48hours, it’s a good idea to open a support ticket with us, so we can investigate any problems.

If you have domain with some a vendor other than ChromeIS, then you need to contact them in order to check with propagation problem.
